If the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey is any indication, former 9th District Congressman Nathan Deal will receive more votes in a race against Democratic candidate Roy Barnes than his opponent.
The survey finds that Deal picks up 49 percent of the vote against Barnes while former Secretary of State Karen Handel earns 45 percent. Deal and Handel are headed for an August 10th runoff.

Nathan Deal and wife Sandra exit the plane shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon after a
VERY long day of flying and speaking.
Candidate Nathan Deal thanks the crowd of home area supporters and gives a brief run down of the places across the state where they have stopped and talked with Georgia Republicans. Stops included Dalton, Columbus, Albany, Macon, Savannah, Augusta, Statesboro and Gainesville.
He was very positive about the results of the trip.
Sandra Deal thanks everyone for their "welcome home" gathering and gives her perspective on the many events of the day across Georgia.
Please remember to vote in the August 10 runoff and encourage all of your friends and acquaintances to do the same. If you know people who were in the Oxendine, Chapman and Johnson campaigns, please ask them to join Nathan's team. Remind them that according to Rasmussen, Deal is the candidate most likely to defeat Roy Barnes in November.
